Brandon Rodriguez Rascon
Hello, my name is Brandon Rodriguez Rascon. I’m a Mexican-American from Tucson, AZ. I come from humble beginnings, in a community that values hard work and family above all else. From early on, I have been taught to give back, which is why I strive to make the world a better place through engineering. I also want to ensure that more people from my home have access to engineering from an early age.
I love engineering; for me, it means being innovative, living in a world where failure becomes knowledge, and being able to create from scratch. To me, engineering goes beyond creating a product or making a breakthrough discovery; it’s about the smiles your work creates and the lives you improve.
Robotics, in particular, has captured my heart. I love the intricacies of hardware and automation that make up a robot. Since the first time I saw a robotics competition, I have been working towards one day being at the forefront of robotics innovation.
I am just commencing (officially) my journey as an engineer. I have lots to learn, but I trust that my passion for learning will help me gain all the skills I need to become a mechanical engineer and achieve my goals.
A quote that I live by
“I come as one, but I stand as ten thousand.” - Maya Angelou
This quote reminds me of my context and the responsibility I carry. I represent not only myself but also those who came before me and worked hard to provide the privileges I enjoy today. It signifies that it is now my turn to strive for a better future for the next generation, including my family and my communidad Latina.
